How we handle your data

Revised 2 November 2026

The short version

Wapitiridgegames is built to collect as little as possible. There are no accounts, no sign-up forms, no comment boxes, no analytics and no advertising trackers. You can read every page without telling us anything about yourself.

This page explains the few things that do happen when you visit, so you know exactly where your information goes.

Your shortlist stays on your device

When you tap the heart on a game, your shortlist is saved in your own browser using localStorage. The same is true of your answer to the cookie notice. This information stays on your device and is never sent to us.

Because it lives in your browser, clearing your browser data removes your shortlist and your cookie choice. If you use another browser or device, it starts empty. If you share a shortlist link, the games in it are written into the link itself, so anyone you send it to can see them.

Fonts from Google

Our pages use typefaces served by Google Fonts. To deliver those font files, your browser connects to Google’s servers, and Google receives your IP address and basic browser details such as the browser type, as it would for any web request.

Google handles that information under its own privacy policy. We do not receive it, and we use the connection for nothing other than displaying the site’s typefaces.

When you leave for a game

Our play buttons open each game’s official website in a new tab. From that point you are on the publisher’s site, and its own privacy policy covers anything you share there, including any account you create.

We do not pass any information about you to those publishers when you click through.

Emails to the editors

If you write to [email protected], we receive your email address and whatever you choose to tell us. We use it only to read your message and reply.

We keep emails only as long as we need them to answer you and follow up on corrections. We never add you to a mailing list, and we never share your message with anyone outside the desk.

Your rights under Canadian law

We handle personal information in line with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, which in practice is usually only your emails, and ask us to correct or delete it.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Changes to this page

If we change how the site handles information, for example by adding a new feature, we will update this page and its revision date. We will always describe any change in plain language.

Questions about privacy are welcome at [email protected], and we answer them as promptly as we can.
